The Chefs
Mark Antony Buscanera was born into an Italian family
and surrounded by Italian food and culture his entire life. He
was raised in the North End of Boston which is known for its Italian
heritage and is steeped in tradition, retaining many of the customs
of Italy. At age 11, he made and sold pizza, subs and Italian
food in his Uncle Nick Parrotta's Alpine Lodge. He considers this
to be the start of his self employment! He finally realized his
dream in 2003 when he opened Mark Antony's Italian Cuisine in
Wiscasset.
Gayle
Simonetti began taking Asian cooking courses in 1978 and went
on to teach private Asian cooking classes for the next two years.
She put the dream of cooking professionally on hold while she
raised her three daughters, but she constantly pushed herself
to learn as much as possible about cooking. Gayle was always counted
on to host fabulous dinner parties and make gourmet meals that
challenged her talents. In 1999, she created her own company,
Let's Do Dinner, and began catering private events along
the coast of Maine. In June 2003 she began cooking with Mark at
his restaurant.
In 2006, Gayle Simonetti and Mark Buscanera strengthened
the roots of Mark Antony's Italian Cuisine in Wiscasset by pooling
resources and talents to become co-owners and partners of Mark
Antony's Inc.
Since Chef Gayle arrived at Mark Antony's she has
applied her talents to lift Italian cuisine to another level of
elegance. Her background in Asian cooking has certainly influenced
their food presentation. She has also applied her talents to the
metamorphosis of the dining room atmosphere, which has helped
launch Mark Antony's into an unforgettable "Dining Experience"
you'll want to repeat over and over again and tell your friends
about!
Mark and Gayle have continued Let's Do Dinner
Catering as a division of Mark Antony's and are more than
prepared to cater wedding, barbecues, family reunions or any other
special event you can think of!
